Our Mission:

The Cpl. Matthew Richard Memorial Foundation serves our local and national military community by preserving patriotism and providing financial aid to existing service organizations offering support to those in need.

The Cpl. Matthew Richard Memorial Foundation is formed in an effort to ensure that the sacrifices made by Cpl. Matthew Richard, USMC and all who serve our country with pride: past, present and future - are never forgotten. Matthew often reflected the characteristics of love, compassion, respect and self-discipline in all that he did and with all whom he met. Matthew gave his life demonstrating these very same characteristics as he protected his brothers in Afghanistan. Matthew's sacrifice represents the same sacrifice thousands of men and women who serve must endure. It is our intention to continue Matthew's legacy through the mission of this foundation.

Cpl. Matthew Richard, our 21 year old son and hero, was killed in Afghanistan while conducting combat operations. On June 9, 2011, Matthew, a team leader, moved his team to safety before he attempted to investigate an IED. The IED exploded and hours later we were notified that Matthew had been killed in action. As any parent might understand, losing a child has been and will always be the worst nightmare any parent can face. Our one and only worry is that Matthew will be forgotten. To ensure that the death of our son does not end in only sorrow and pain, we've established this foundation to bring help to those who are still here.
